Recipe: Lions Mane Mushroom Steaks

Lions Mane Mushrooms

We get the most delicious local Lions Mane Mushrooms from Farmer Gabe at Traveling Cap Mushrooms. Lions Mane mushrooms are renowned for their ability to improve cognitive functioning and they make an excellent “steak”. Here’s a simple recipe for Lions Mane Steaks. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS
Lions mane mushrooms (2/3 pound or so)
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Sea salt or Himalayan pink salt
Olive or avocado oil (olive oil if you’d like to have that flavor in your steaks, avocado if you don’t)

INSTRUCTIONS
– Using a sharp knife, cut Lions Mane into 1/2 inch slices
– Place mushrooms into non-stick pan (no oil yet)
– Turn heat up to medium
– Once warned up, cook each steak for 3 minutes on each side, pressing a bit to remove moisture from the mushrooms
– Add 3 tablespoons of oil and sprinkle each side with garlic powder, onion powder, and a bit of salt to bring those flavors out
– Cook until good and golden brown, about 3 mins more on each side, then remove from heat
