“I’m thrilled to be joining you as the new General Manager of Assabet Co-op Market. Throughout my interview process, I’ve been struck by the values that your fantastic board and supportive membership have consistently upheld, and I am honored to join such a wonderful group of likeminded individuals. Like many in the pandemic, I have found myself reflecting in recent months on the importance of those who are willing to collaborate in order to lift up the needs of a community. I see exactly these qualities in the Assabet Co-op Market and look forward supporting them further as a group.

“A little bit more about me: I was born and raised in Philadelphia had have worn many different hats over the years. In addition to the years that I managed the Mariposa Food Co-op, I have spent time in co-op education, green construction, and business management and consulting. I am passionate about food sovereignty and social equality, and have tried to embody these values in all of my pursuits. When I’m not at work you can usually find me on a bike, practicing mixed martial arts, or somewhere outside enjoying nature. My partner, Catie, and I are looking forward to the incredible rivers and trails in your area and can’t wait to explore them. In the quieter moments, we are often settled down at home with our cats—Pip, Tiny, and Rye—surrounded by too many books (I am a bookworm and Catie is a PhD in English) and an excessive array of houseplants.

“I look forward to getting to know you in the coming months as we search for a new home for Assabet Co-op Market (spoiler alert: my construction background and hard hat should come in handy).

Warmly,

Sam”
